Craps Unwritten Rules How do you behave at the craps table? There are unwritten rules of craps etiquette besides the game rules. There is a certain etiquette that craps players stick to. Place your bet while the dice are in the middle of the table. Before you make a bet have it clear in your mind what bets you are going to place. Players aren't supposed to handle the dice with more than one hand. The only way to change hands is to put the dice on the table, let go, then take them with the other hand. When throwing the dice, the player should hit the wall at the opposite end of the table. A "no roll" is a more controllable short roll. A die or both that left the table are also "no roll". Dealers aren't allowed to touch the players or hand chips directly to a player, and vice versa. The dealer takes the cash laid down on the layout and places chips in front of the player. Like any other table game, the casino can ask a player to leave the table or the casino for any reason. When offered the dice to shoot, a player may pass the dice to the next player without fear of offending anyone. One player must always be a shooter. To continue the game he should bet on either the pass line or don't pass line. Do tip the dealers. Dealers in the US don't get paid that much. Tossing chips onto the table and saying "For the dealers" or "For the boys" is the most common way of tipping. It is also common to place a bet for the dealers. A two-way bet is one that is part for the player and part for the dealers. The the dealers' bet is appreciated, but usually it is smaller than the player's. Changing dice in the middle of a roll is considered bad luck. The shooter calls "Same Dice!" if he doesn't want a new die. Food, drinks, cigarettes, and other things are remained off the chip rail and aren't held over the table. Leaving the table after a successful come-out roll is felt to be bad luck. When the shooter is ready to roll, players should remove their hands from the table area to avoid interfering with the dice. It is often said by the stickman: "hands high, let 'em fly" or "dice are out, hands high". Coloring up is done only when the player leaves the table. It is generally permissible to color up and then decide to stay for one more round. But coloring up multiple times while at the same table is impolite.Inexperience is common source of disappointment. One has to know all the rules and the features of the game long before he sits down to the craps table. Some casinos gave its players an opportunity to practise the game before playing for real money. The more experienced you are the better player you are. A vital feature of an efficient craps strategy involves a good understanding of the smart bets on the table. This is actually easier that it sounds. Making correct bets is very important.
